An Arcade alternative when you need a finished demo video

Arcade captures your product as you click through it and turns that into interactive demos and videos. DemoScreen starts from screenshots you already have and renders a narrated, scored MP4. They overlap on video; they differ on almost everything else.

What is different

Arcade's core idea is that the viewer clicks through your product themselves: you record a flow, and it becomes an embedded demo with hotspots and steps. That is hard to beat on a landing page or in a sales follow-up, where letting someone explore at their own pace is the point.

DemoScreen makes a video and only a video. The viewer watches; they don't click. In exchange, the output plays anywhere a video plays — YouTube, an App Store preview, a LinkedIn post, a conference screen, an email — with narration, a music bed levelled to streaming loudness and a caption file.

When Arcade is the better choice

  • You want an interactive demo that visitors click through on your website.
  • You want to capture a live product with a browser extension rather than take screenshots.
  • Your team publishes many demos and wants to track how people engage with them.
  • You need translations into languages DemoScreen does not narrate.

When DemoScreen is the better choice

  • You need a finished video file to upload somewhere, not an embed.
  • You only have screenshots or mockups — the product isn't live yet, it's a mobile app, or the real one is behind a login you can't record.
  • You want the narration written for you from the text on your screens, timed to the cuts and a music bed.
  • You want the same demo in landscape, vertical and square for different channels.
  • You are one person on a small budget: DemoScreen Starter is $9 a month, and credit packs start at $5 with no subscription.

One honest trade-off: DemoScreen renders on our servers, and a one-minute video usually takes about 10 minutes, longer if other videos are ahead of it in the queue. We email you when it is done.

How to make the same demo in DemoScreen

  1. Screenshot each step of the flow you would have recorded, in order — 6 to 10 screens suit one minute, because every highlight you mark becomes a scene of its own.
  2. Upload them in the studio and drag over the button, field or chart on each screen that the viewer should notice. Those become close-ups.
  3. Let the AI draft the script from your screens, then edit it.
  4. Choose a voice, a music mood, a look (Midnight, Keynote, Glass, Terminal or Paper) and a format.
  5. Make the video and download the MP4, the SRT captions and a GIF of the opening.

Try the same loop on a sample project in the sandbox — no account needed — or see plans and credit packs on the pricing page.

Questions

Does DemoScreen make interactive demos?

No. DemoScreen makes video files: an MP4 with narration, music and captions. For click-through interactive demos, Arcade is built for that.

Can I export an MP4 on DemoScreen's free plan?

Yes. Free gives you 60 seconds of video to start, as a 720p MP4 with a small watermark, and those credits don't expire. On Arcade, GIF and MP4 export is listed on the Growth plan and above as of October 2026.

Do I need to record my screen?

No. DemoScreen works from still screenshots. The camera moves, zooms and cuts between them, so the result still feels like a walkthrough. On Starter and above you can also drop in short screen recordings, up to 15 seconds each, where motion matters.

Can I use both?

Yes, and plenty of teams would: an interactive demo on the website, and a short narrated video for social posts, app stores and email.
