A Synthesia alternative for product demos made from screenshots

Synthesia is an AI video platform built around talking avatars. DemoScreen does one narrower thing: it turns screenshots of your product into a narrated, music-backed demo video. If the product is the star of the video, not a presenter, this page is for you.

What is different

Synthesia starts from a script and puts a presenter in front of it. That works well when a person explaining something is the point — a policy, a process, a course module. Product demos are usually the opposite: the viewer wants to see the product, and a presenter takes up screen space the interface needs.

DemoScreen starts from your screenshots. You mark the parts of each screen that matter, and the camera moves in on them one after another. The script is drafted from the text it reads on your screens, then timed to the cuts and a music bed. There is no avatar, and there is no option to add one.

When Synthesia is the better choice

  • You want a human-looking presenter on screen — for training, internal communications or a personal-feeling sales message.
  • You need many languages. Synthesia lists more than 140; DemoScreen narrates in five.
  • You are building courses for a learning platform and need SCORM export (on Synthesia's Enterprise plan).
  • Your source material is a document, a slide deck or a long script rather than screens of a product.
  • You need videos longer than three minutes.

When DemoScreen is the better choice

  • The video is about your product's interface, and you have screenshots of it already.
  • You want the script written for you from what is on the screens, not typed from scratch.
  • You need the same demo cut three ways — landscape for the website, vertical for Reels and TikTok, square for a feed post.
  • The budget is small: $9 a month covers five one-minute videos, and credit packs start at $5 with no subscription.
  • You want the work done on EU infrastructure: standard voices and library music are generated on our own servers in the EU.

One honest trade-off: DemoScreen is not instant. A one-minute video usually renders in about 10 minutes, longer if other videos are ahead of it in the queue, and we email you when it is ready. You can close the tab while it works.

How to make the same video in DemoScreen

  1. Take 6 to 10 screenshots of the flow you want to show, in the order it should play.
  2. Upload them in the studio and drag over the parts of each screen you want the camera to land on.
  3. Let the AI draft the script from your screens, then edit it — or type a few notes and rewrite.
  4. Pick a voice, a music mood, a look and a format, and add your logo to the end card.
  5. Make the video. You get an MP4, an SRT caption file, a GIF of the opening and a share link.

Want to see the edit loop before signing up? The sandbox runs it on a sample project with no account. Plans and credit packs are on the pricing page.

Questions

Can DemoScreen add an AI avatar to my video?

No. DemoScreen videos show your product's screens with narration and music. If you need an on-screen presenter, Synthesia is built for that.

Is DemoScreen cheaper than Synthesia?

For short product demos, usually. DemoScreen Starter is $9 a month for 300 seconds of finished video. Synthesia Starter is listed at $29 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, as of October 2026. The two make different kinds of video, so compare on what you actually need.

Which languages can DemoScreen narrate in?

English (American and British voices), Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) and French. The script is written in the narration language you pick.

Can I try DemoScreen for free?

Yes. The Free plan gives you 60 seconds of video to start, rendered at 720p with a small watermark, and those credits don't expire. The sandbox needs no account at all.
